It’s hard to attend birthday parties these days. What do you get a New Yorker that won’t overcrowd his or her apartment, or be a duplicate of another gift? Or be something he actually wants?
On December 8th, I will celebrate my birthday at my weekly mostly one-man comedy show, Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer. Not only will I entertain you and drive one lucky audience group home in a yellow taxi cab at the end of the night, I will make a donation on behalf of one lucky audience member to his or her charity of choice. You could say I’m a year older, a year wiser, a year funnier. Also a year more grateful for my audience members.
If you’ve seen the show, you know that the audience plays a big part in it, and I’m so thankful for the terrific audience members who have attended my show over the past five seasons. As a measure of gratitude and in keeping with the New York spirit, the show will donate at least $100 in honor of one lucky audience member to his or her favorite non-profit charity. If you are on my mailing list, you received an E-mail on how to enter the charity give-away. Just follow those simple directions in the E-mail.
For those in attendance at the December 8th show — both Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer veterans and newbies — you may enter the contest too. And, there’s a bonus. If you’re in the audience when your charity is chosen, the show will donate $500. That’s right. Five Benjamins.
Happy Birthday to me and happy holidays to your favorite charity. Hope to see you at the SoHo Playhouse on Saturday, December 8th at 10 pm. Get your tickets now.
