The River to River Festival is underway. This week marks its third week of presenting daring work of all stripes across Lower Manhattan. If you want to see visual art, experience dance and theatre or are looking for an artistic experience that isn’t exactly definable, look to River to River. It runs through July 14th on 28 sites.
The 150 acts offer a diverse roster, making it hard to choose exactly what to see. This weekend, you can see Third Rail Projects (dance), Sekou Sundiata/Rhodessa Jones (theatre, spoken word), James Maddock (music), and Fluid: Construct (an installation). Later this weekend you can check out Two-Headed Calf & Yarn-Wire’s You, My Mother: a chamber opera in two parts. Don’t forget to RSVP for tickets.
It’s great to see downtown Manhattan alive and rocking with art for a month every summer. And it’s fun to take on an artist you’ve never seen before, and discover a whole new world of talent.
And, when you’re done with that, maybe you’ll check out the female buddy comedy The Heat. I’m curious to see how it is.
