Is anyone out there having a hard time getting into gear this week? After near silence and no returned E-mails for the month of August, Labor Day rolled around and essentially said good-bye to summer. On Tuesday, everyone on the subway looked like they had just ingested the sourest candy of all. No one — absolutely no one — wanted to return to work and sort through a barrage of E-mails.
And to top this week off, Rosh Hashanah fell right in the middle of it. Happy New Year. It feels like a great time to start over because nothing much has been happening as we’ve gone on vacations or to the US Open or just enjoyed staycations where w didn’t need to think about anything other than catching up on Breaking Bad.
I, for one, will be happy to bid this week adieu. if summer is really over, I want to accept it and quickly move on. Besides, fall in New York means great performances, terrific comedy festivals and the best weather the Big Apple experiences all year. Of course, it also means our five months of winter is just around the corner. Now, I’m not looking forward to that.
