New York is one of the most dynamic cities in the world. New shows open nearly everyday. Cab designs evolve every few years. And neighborhoods change dramatically over just a few years. Of course, we also love our mainstays — Katz’s Deli, which has served up meat sandwiches for decades; long-running shows like Chicago and Wicked on Broadway (hey, I’ve been performing Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer for nearly six years!) and .
Five years ago, the Big Apple welcomed a number of new places. Here’s Time Out New York’s tribute to the Highline, which is a gorgeous park transformed from an elevated train track. It’s hard to believe the park has been up-and-running that long. But, if you’re in New York, check it out.
Around that same time, New York christened two new baseball stadiums — the new Yankees Stadium in the Bronx and Citi Field in Queens–both are adjacent to where their predecessors sat. Citi Field is a dream compared to the former Shea Stadium while the legendary former Yankees Stadium is missed whenever I go to a game.
In 2019, there will be another crop of new places celebrating their fifth anniversary, and I hope Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer will near its 11th.
Have a great weekend.
