Renovations are underway at Soho Playhouse. We’re excited about these changes for many reasons. One of them is that the changes allow for more seating. But with all of these developments, we need to take a couple weeks off and get ready to reopen the show on May 16th. You can get your tickets here.

The Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Madison Square Garden and ME!

It’s official. After 7 smash years I’ve been declared a not-to-be-missed New York City Experience.

The people have spoken:

“I’ve seen Jeter reach 3000 hits in the Bronx, UConn beat Michigan State in The Garden to go on and win the national championship but my most memorable moment was the night I went to see The Complete Performer. Mr. Ted Greenberg is nothing short of brilliant and awesome…” – Nick, User Review, Google Plus

“Definitely a New York experience. The show is hilarious, off-beat, and energetic.” – Corrina, User Review, TripAdvisor.com

“It’s a perfect thing to take a friend to for an offbeat and unexpected night out in New York. “- Jamie, User Review, Time Out New York

“Must be experienced by both visitors to the city and born-and-raised New Yorkers. This is one of those special shows that’s hard to find in the city nowadays.”
Kyle, User Review, Yelp.com

Read these and over 100 other reviews in their entirety on the Peer Review sites.

I do. They make great summer reading.

Then buy tickets.

Then tell your friends “It’s one of those NYC things you have to do, like strolling the Brooklyn Bridge or dining at the River Cafe. And you might win the free cab ride with Ted too.”

Looking forward to seeing you at Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer 6pm Saturdays.

Yours in comedy,
Ted Greenberg

Those Reviews Do Matter

As a long-running show in New York, I am understand the importance of peer review sites and how they help audience members make decisions about what to see and do in their hometowns and cities they visit across the globe. As a traveler, I visit Yelp.com or TripAdvisor.com when making my plays. I trust others will point me in the right direction.

I read with great interest about Brad Reynolds and how he has posted the most reviews and photos of anyone on TripAdvisor.com. He uses his reviews a way to keep a journal about his trips. He’s visited dozens of countries and traveled more than 600,000 miles. The American is currently based in Hong Kong with his wife Jill.

Of course, Brad, you’re always invited to see Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer whenever you’re next in New York. We would love to see how we stack up against that New Zealand milkshake and those amazing museums.

Spring is here. It’s a strange time of year. Major League Baseball is barely 10 games in. NCAA Basketball is over with both old school men’s (Duke) and women’s (UConn) champions. Football is way over. And we’re heading to the NBA playoffs.
If you’re like me, you’re a fan not only of sports, but great sports writing. Whether it was the late, great David Foster Wallace’s take on Roger Federer, an article I re-read on occasion. Some writers create work that pulsates as vibrantly as the athletes they cover.
Today I’m going to give a special shout out to Jason Gay. Check out this article he wrote about Stephen Curry. It’s another fine example of his enormous talent. Happy Reading. And enjoy the NBA playoffs. I know I will.

A Comedy Takes Root on Broadway

Have you seen Hand to God, the new play that just opened on Broadway? Not yet. Well, it’s time to race to the theater. And, don’t just take my word for it. The play with the dirty mouthed sock puppet has heart and some glowing notices to boot. The play has taken a cool journey to the Great White Way, moving from Ensemble Studio Theatre to MCC and now the holy land of theater.
Charles Isherwood of New York Times wrote a love letter to the play. Elisabeth Vincentelli of the New York Post gave it 3.5 stars (out of 4). The New York Daily News also praised the play.
Of course, audiences love sidekicks-mascots and hand puppets-whether they can talk or they spew racy language. Here’s to enjoying Hand to God!

Comedy News for April 2015

Categories: Latest News

Lots going on in the comedy world these days. Here are some of my favorite recent reads.

Vulture has a couple must-read articles. First up, there’s a giant statue dedicated to comedy queen Lucille Ball. Not sure exactly what to make of it, but still. And, here’s a look back at Rififi, the once home of conceptual comedy. Twenty-one comics remember the space.
Here’s the obit for Tom Koch, who left his indelible print on Mad Magazine and a variety of comedy shows. It’s a lovely piece.
You know him. You love him. Esquire takes a look at Robert Downey, Jr’s comedy career as he celebrates half a century of life.
A new animated comedy is coming to FX, courtesy of Diddy. Speaking of, Louie returns.
