David-Letterman
I started my career writing for David Letterman in the early days of his 30-plus year career. What an honor.

All I can say is thank you for that boost. And thank you for everything you’ve done over the past three decades.

You will be missed.

When I won an Emmy writing for David Letterman in the early years, I didn’t know then that he would become such an iconic staple of American television. For 30+ years, Americans have turned on their TV and bid their day adieu with the Canadian, gap-toothed funnyman. Whether it was his Top 10 or Stupid Animal Tricks or the bits with his mother, he’s made us guffaw for decades. It’s hard to believe it all comes to an end later this week. We will be a country adrift without his supreme talents.

As such, here are some of the best comedy articles and insights about David Letterman and how he changed the landscape of late night television.

Everybody was touched by Norm Macdonald’s touching tribute to his comedy hero.

This Newsweek profile of the early years of David Letterman’s career is simply sublime.

The Mercury News lists 10 reasons to miss the show. All good ones.

For the geeks among us, this Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel look at the numbers/stats of the show is quite intriguing.

I will watch every episode of Dave’s final week and reminisce about those early years. Happy Viewing.

Two weeks is a long time in New York City where a million things can happen in a minute! Right? New Yorkers walk quickly, talk fast and rush about the city.

We have spent some time on the show the past two weekends as Soho Playhouse was transformed into an even more amazing space to perform. There is more room for audience!

So please see the show. We’re back at 6pm every Saturday now. Get your tickets here. We look forward to entertaining you.

As many of you know, I won an Emmy for my writing. For David Letterman in the early days of the show. It was a dream job in many ways–creating conceptual comedy sketches and being part of late night TV history.

As Letterman prepares to sign off air after three decades entertaining the masses, there are many retrospectives on his illustrious career. Here’s Vulture’s look back at the world of Dave. Former writers–including my writing partner David Yazbek–talk about the sketches that didn’t make it on air.

It’s fun to reminisce about those early days, and hear what excited the show’s writers over the years.

Thanks Dave.

Today is Star Wars Day (May the 4th); tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. One of the best places to enjoy a margarita is within walking distance of the Soho Playhouse where I perform my weekly comedy show. That’s right, head to Agave on Seventh Avenue for some tasty grub and mouth-watering margaritas.

The intimate bar is a fun place to kick back with friends or have a little romantic date. The sunken dining room is carefully lit and is the right location for dinner conversation and to wine and dine folks. Whenever I’m looking for some great Mexican food and a margarita, I head to Agave.

The place also has a great happy hour, but tomorrow is ‘national drink a margarita day’ so price shouldn’t matter!
