As a comedian with a long-running comedy show–Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer– and a trustworthy sidekick (Mascot Greenberg), I read this New York Times article with great interest.
Racehorses are known for being a wee bit temperamental. The solution for many is to have a companion animal, another animal that calms them down. For many, it’s another horse. For Strong Impact, Charlie the pig is his companion animal.
I love performing on stage by myself, but there is also something comforting about calling on my Mascot throughout the show. I get it horses. All the World’s a Stage. And sometimes we need others to help us be our best.
Kudos to American Pharoah for his great run at Belmont, and bringing home the first Triple Crown in nearly 40 years.
