Here’s a look at the latest comedy news:
 
The summer technically starts in late June, but movie studios roll out “summer” films before Memorial Day. Variety takes a look at comedy films coming out in summer 2015.
 
There is a bit of a change-over in the heads of comedy development–the people who help determine what we will watch on TV in the coming seasons. Read more at the Hollywood Reporter.

Lots going on in the comedy world these days. Here are some of my favorite recent reads.

Vulture has a couple must-read articles. First up, there’s a giant statue dedicated to comedy queen Lucille Ball. Not sure exactly what to make of it, but still. And, here’s a look back at Rififi, the once home of conceptual comedy. Twenty-one comics remember the space.
 
Here’s the obit for Tom Koch, who left his indelible print on Mad Magazine and a variety of comedy shows. It’s a lovely piece.
 
You know him. You love him. Esquire takes a look at Robert Downey, Jr’s comedy career as he celebrates half a century of life.
 
A new animated comedy is coming to FX, courtesy of Diddy. Speaking of, Louie returns.

HBO has a couple comedy pilots in the works. One by Mike White, who worked on Enlightened. Another will star Kyra Sedgwick, who lit up cable television in the drama The Closer. The comedy pilot is by Kari Lizer, who created The New Adventures of Old Christine. Learn more at Deadline.com.
 
The Comedy Store in San Diego is hurting today. A very fancy car slammed into the building that houses the comedy club. The full story may be read at U-T San Diego.
 
The Sydney Morning Herald reports on the first indigenous sketch show in 40 years.
