Last night, I enjoyed an epic meal at Blossom on Carmine, just a few blocks from where I take the stage every Saturday night for Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer. And, while enjoying my four-course meal–you read that right–I realized I should blog about the vegan restaurant for those vegan/vegetarian fans of the show.

If you want to grab a bite in the neighborhood (it’s literally a six- or seven-minute walk to the theater), Blossom on Carmine is a great option. Last night I started the meal off with a tomato-eggplant soup while my dining companion had the celery pureed soup. Both were slightly spicy and tasty and warm. Perfect for a night with a little snow in the air.

We moved onto three tacos and the black eyed pea cake for appetizers, and I’d highly recommend both. The black eyed pea cake is hearty while the tacos, with a dash of lime, are wonderfully flavorful. For our entrees, I ate the vegetable tagine, which was another winner, while my friend had seitan cutlets over kale and mashed potatoes, which also looked amazing. We finished the night off with tiramisu and peach cobbler, both are good, but we recommend the tiramisu! C’mon it’s tiramisu!

The service was prompt, but not overbearing. And, we sat downstairs, which allowed us to have a lovely conversation.

Happy eating!
