Starting the New Year Off…Wrong

Ted Greenberg may be The Complete Performer, but he’s not great at resolutions. He started the new year with lots of hope. And one major resolution–to avoid sugar.
In this video, he details how unsuccessful he has been in sticking to that resolution. Sure, there are some resolutions that are easier to keep than others. But, you always hope that you can sustain a resolution at least through the first week of the year. In Ted’s case, this was an EPIC fail.
There’s always tomorrow, right?
Or perhaps he could come up with a more realistic resolution? Like, perform Ted Greenberg’s The Complete Performer once a month? Or, drive a cab 12 times a year? Both of these he’s on track to do.
Or see three movies in January. Or binge watch a season of a show on Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime and Disney+ and Apple TV+. All in one month. That’s definitely doable during winter in New York. Or volunteer 12 times this year.
Maybe he can do *anything* except give up sugar. It’s hard to let go when there’s ice cream on every corner, M&Ms at every bodega, cupcakes on each block (really good cupcakes. Have you tried Molly’s Cupcakes which has outposts in NYC, Iowa, Chicago and Cincinnati?) and doughnuts calling your name every 5 blocks? New York City is just one sugar-covered big apple. Sugar is everywhere. All the time. As plentiful as coffee in Seattle and cowboy boots in Texas.
Ted’s started the year off wrong, but he’s got 360 more days to make it right. To succeed in his sugar-free quest. And, that’s the biggest lesson of all. Don’t give up. Good luck on your resolutions for 2020!
